Grand Theft Auto is the crown jewel of that kingdom. It’s an international phenomenon and one of the most important game series of all time. With Grand Theft Auto V , Rockstar made the biggest open world of its kind, but despite its commercial success, the developer is simply giving into its own very hazardous addiction. Thanks to his previous life, he’s absolutely loaded and lives in a mansion with two kids and a wife. His kids are spoiled brats, with the son spending all day smoking pot and playing video games (no offensive, readers) and the daughter a fame-obsessed promiscuous teenager who will do anything to become a celebrity. His wife, on the other hand, resents him even though he gives her anything she could possibly want (including some surgical enhancements) and is having an affair with likely multiple suitors. Depressed and not challenged in his current country club life, Michael decides to team with Franklin for some excitement. For such a maverick of a series, one that broke ground for gamers, critics and politicians alike, it sure hasn’t been as ambitious as its peers these days. While Skyrim was displaying a smart array of carefully placed activities and Saints Row was slowly chipping away that obnoxious padding between missions, Grand Theft Auto was just putting on more and more unneeded pounds. I like the idea of big games with lots of stuff to do, but simply making a game bigger and smugly putting down your competitors for their "lack of ambition" isn’t a good way to evolve your series, especially when your game is big and empty enough that you need to include yoga as a legitimate side mission.

But once San Andreas was released in 2004, Rockstar adopted a mentality that ended up damaging the vision of an open-world. Unlike Vice City , San Andreas expanded the world size considerably, encompassing three major cities instead of just one. It was a technical endeavor for the Playstation 2, no doubt, but it also drew upon a number of issues that have made the open-world setup more problematic than it did back in the day. Making a world bigger requires many more activities to keep things interesting. Otherwise, you’re wandering around from mission to mission with barely any sort of activity. It might as well be empty space. Changeable topography, different challenges that appear while moving from location to location, these types of things keep that lull between missions away. San Andreas didn’t suffer from that too much, but it brought to light the idea that spreading something out can leave plenty of weak spots in between.

Of course, one of the aspects this series is most renowned for is its music. Vice City sparked a minor resurgence in New Wave, while Grand Theft Auto IV perfectly captured the burgeoning indie scene in Brooklyn at the time. Building off of the presentation and quality of the latter’s soundtrack, V boasts one of the series’ best collections of music. For indie lovers, Radio Broker is replaced by Radio Mirror Park, which features tracks from Twin Shadow, Yeasayer, Health, Neon Indian, The Chain Gang of 1974 and more. The incredible thing is that all of the aforementioned artists are contributing new music to the game and the fact that there’s so many critically revered artists with new music on one channel is astounding. For electronic lovers, there’s Soulwax FM, named after and featuring many remixes from electronic band Soulwax. On the pop side of things, there’s Non-Stop Pop FM which features an excellent blend between current top ten artists like Rhianna, lesser-known ones like Robyn and classic acts like Hall & Oats. Of course, there’s something for everyone with other stations focusing on rap, country, classic rock and more. The amount of care put into curating this soundtrack that could have simply been a collection of random songs is more evidence of how much work goes into even the smallest features of the game.
Grand Theft Auto is now the Dragonforce of gaming, a series where "more, more, MORE!" is the mantra, slowly wasting away the substance and precision the series had achieved on Playstation 2. Rockstar, please think about what you’re doing before the inevitable GTA V Memorable Characters VI is released.

Drawing inspiration not from Fallout 3 , but the games which preceded it (with many of the team having worked on the cancelled Fallout 3 from Black Isle), any doubts of Obsidian being up to the task ended with the 'Old World Blues' DLC . Sending players into 'The Big Empty,' the campaign was one massive homage to retro science fiction of the 1950s. No game character is more under-appreciated than the taller half of Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. , and in 2013 the company decided to give him his due. Announcing 2013 as 'the Year of Luigi,' the company backed up the claim in the form of New Super Bros. Luigi U , downloadable content for New Super Mario Bros.

Combat itself has been overhauled in GTAV. Instead of blindly cycling through weapons, there’s now a weapons wheel that is brought up by holding the left bumper, allowing available weapons to be seen and selected easier. Additionally, getting busted or killed no longer forfeits your weapons, which makes spending money on weapons upgrades much more realistic. Actual combat is more customizable, allowing players to choose how much they want to be assisted with automatic locking. By default, it’s a bit of a mix between free-aim and full-lock, with targets in clear view automatically locked on and those hidden or at weird angles left to free-aiming. The cover system has also been improved, allowing smoother transitions. On the driving side of things, vehicle handling has been updated, with vehicles feeling better than ever before. While this is still the sort of game that lets you bounce around after landing a jump, handling feels more realistic and tailored to specific vehicles, instead of cars simply being "fast" or "slow." Even supercars feel distinct from one another. Realism has also been visually improved, with cars mirroring their real-life counterparts like never before. It’s clear what’s a Mustang or what’s an Audi and even though the brands can’t be used, it's better than simply looking for a "fast" car.

There are tons of annoying missions in the Grand Theft Auto series that force you to drive a slow truck or some other vehicle of the sort that — adding to this already boring premise — also happens to be dragging something behind it which is crucial to said mission. In Pulling Favors, you control Franklin as you use a tow truck in order to slowly impound vehicles since apparently that's exactly what people want to do when they play a game like Grand Theft Auto

'The Truth' is a series of hidden missions that you can find by using the in-game browser to visit the Epsilon Program website. This particular 'religious' sect has been serving as a parody of Scientology for a while in the Grand Theft Auto universe, and they have their biggest role in Grand Theft Auto

The opening of the mission involves a pretty difficult jump in order to get Trevor on the top of the train as he uses his dirtbike to facilitate the leap. Trying to nail this jump is pretty hard on the first try, and Rockstar even acknowledges this with one of the Gold Medal Objectives named 'Better Than CJ,' which involves making this hard jump on the very first

Think back to your first moments with Niko Bellic and his cousin Roman -- sure they were annoying at first, but by game’s end you cared about them more deeply then you ever thought possible. Now wouldn’t you want to experience that ag

Now this easter egg is rather strange as players have previously data-mined GTA V for all of the possible phone numbers within the game, but this one did not appear. This has led to many players to believing that Rockstar have only recently added the number into the game. Why you ask? Nobody knows, but that hasn’t stopped players from searching for any connections that it may have to other easter eggs within the game.

During the mission "Predator," Michael is tasked with finding the O’Neil brothers in the woods at night. In order to see the Bigfoot easter egg, the player must use a sniper rifle fitted with a thermal scope to effectively see him. When the player is zoomed in with the thermal scope, they will notice number of animals and also a strange looking figure standing upright. This figure very closely resembles the shape and overall look of Bigfoot.
