Wigfrid is exclusive to the Reign of Giants DLC, unlocked through gaining enough experience. She is dressed like a Valkyrie, a figure from Norse mythology, but that doesn’t mean she is one. Several clues tell us this: when she examines a pirate hat she says, "This hat confuses my character… I mean, my söul." Plus, the loading screen text related to her says that she "cultivated her persona" over many years. So if her Valkyrie form is just a role she plays, it’s likely her name isn’t even Wigfrid. So who is she, rea

The characters of Don’t Starve all have instruments for voices when they speak, and Wilba is no exception. Her instrument is pretty special – it’s an ocarina. The Legend of Zelda fans will no doubt be thinking of Ocarina of Time , a popular Zelda game famed for its little blue ocarina that allows the protagonist to travel to different places and times. As a pig princess, is Wilba perhaps linked to Princess Zelda from Ocarina of Time ? While she speaks in musical tones like everyone else, she also oinks when she’s done speak

With quirky, scribbly visuals and a delightfully spooky atmosphere, Don’t Starve is a deservedly popular survival game. Despite the title, there’s a lot more to it than simply not starving. The eccentric charm of this game flows through the music, monsters, and interactions within this world, but it also shows the most in each character. With a total of 18 in the base game, DLCs, and Nintendo switch multiplayer guide successor Don’t Starve Together , the series boasts an array of colorful characters who bring their own dialogue and abilities to the experience. Read on for 10 facts about the cast of Don’t Star

Because the spring brings a ton of rain, it also brings lightning storms. These lightning strikes can hit anything in your camp and can be completely disastrous if it sets something on fire. We've all had a chest get hit by lightning and lost everything ins

And then you get cocky and decide to attack the wrong monster. Or an unexpected swarm of bats invades the camp, or a surprise tentacle in the swamp, or maybe you weren't quite so prepared for winter as you thought you were. Death isn't truly inevitable, but it's going to take a whole lot of dying to learn how not to do it any more. Then it's time to choose who you want to play as this time, roll up a new world, and start all over again with, hopefully, a better plan.

The word roguelike has become synonymous with permadeath, and it would be remiss to not mention the title that coined the term in the first place. That game in question is Rogue , and it is one of the cult classics of 1980s gaming. The RPG had permanent death and randomly-generated dungeon levels, and helped create a number of gameplay elements that are still used in gaming to

The main issue many might have with Don't Starve it that you need to make your own goals. There's no "go here do this" to the game, nothing pointing you in the right direction. You get resources by harvesting them from the world, craft them into items, use them to harvest more resources that then get turned into new items to help you live longer. You need to keep on top of health, hunger, and sanity, and there's no instructions on how to do this outside of the obvious "eat food" and "don't get hit". Everything else is trial and error or a quick trip to an FAQ.

The other seasons will bring other mobs, too. Everyone has different ways of handling these massive enemies and bosses and although you can read about them and read other people's strategies, the best way to learn how to handle them is through experie

The biggest struggle in winter is staying warm. Before winter starts, collect rabbits, beefalo fur, or catcoon tails in order to craft warm clothes that will help keep your character's body heat up. Although you'll likely spend a lot of your winter near your fire pit at home, you'll still have to go out eventual

Sometimes bringing up the inventory in games can be a little bit fiddly. Don't Starve Together seems weird but is easy when you get the hang of it. If you want to open up the inventory, use R2 to pause the game and then press R2 again to open up the invent

Don't Starve originally came out on PC and created a solid fan-base for itself by being a really fun survival/crafting game with a humorous gothic-lite style. It kept interest up by being constantly updated with new features and plenty of secrets, growing from its initial impressive size to a huge epic of carving out a life in a hostile land, if only you can manage to avoid the many endless ways death can cut the adventure short. There's lands to explore, a giant network of caves underground, monsters of all shapes and sizes, tons of resources if only you can figure out how to both collect use them best, and, if you can find it, an Adventure mode to provide a bit of plot to counterbalance the free-form Survival mode. Don't Starve is loaded with content, but it requires a motivated player to get to it.
